This incredible mastermind group consisting of parents with children of similar age ranges, gather once a month to receive expert coaching, learn from one another and build a community with other dedicated parents.

I was happy to dive into parent mediation and perspective building via phone with two caring, and dedicated parents. Sometimes it is very useful to bring in a professional to ask thoughtful questions, offer research and guide you to make decisions based on your values, (not just give an opinion and make the decision for you). Effective parents see an opportunities to fill deficits in knowledge, skill and clarity, specifically related to child and adolescent development, family decision making and execution. 

Discerning the trivial from the vital is essential to stay on track toward our vision. Parents benefit from carving out time to get aligned, work on increasing awareness around what matters most and how the family uses precious resources of time and focus.

Did you know that feedback can serve to reinforce or change? We usually see feedback fall under evaluation, coaching or appreciation. Exciting news! This innovative charter school has dedicated lead teachers who coach, appreciate, evaluate and provide feedback for their peers. During our training, we unpacked the ‘art of feedback’ and the balance between skill and relationship, rapport and credibility. Role playing, sentence starters, scenarios, and ‘how-to’ coach hot tips made our time together fly by.

This hands-on, feedback driven workshop at the University of California San Diego, pushed a small group of determined leaders to develop knowledge and skills to establish credibility and rapport via verbal and non-verbal communication. Participants took turns video taping each other and watching themselves to self assess their habits to improve. You know it’s a good when eager learners stay after for additional 2+ hours to continuing working and ask for help!

An unforgettable week of high-level personal  development work for 400 middle school girls. Positive self coaching, Speak with Good Purpose, boundary talks, trust, self-advocacy, refusal skills, feedback frames and joyful celebrating. I’m exhausted and thrilled to have served this community. This work is in my soul. New Mexico and specifically, Lea County led the nation in teen pregnancy rates in 2009 when we began our partnership to educate and empower young women. Today, teen pregnancy has declined by 60% in Lea County! We always go, ready to make lives better and it is always US who are reminded of WHO WE ARE, refining our foundational values and core that make  us...us. And when work requires gold, sparkly, high-top tennis shoes.. I'm IN! Who will be next? 

Two days of high level work with the top 40 district leaders toward leadership alignment and communication skill building. Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Principals, Directors and District team members were taken through their habits, patterns and learned more about discerning the vital from trivial to stay on track toward our vision. We dedicated time for reflection, trust, and worked on increasing awareness around feedback and communication filters. GREAT work Othello.
